Cartagena - The Pride of Latin America
Cartagena is a party city located in Colombia,
away from the hustle and bustle of other Colombian cities, i.e. Bogota; this place is a perfect getaway for people from and outside Colombia.
The weather is hot here throughout the year because of its coastal location.
Places you couldn't miss to afford in Cartagena.
Old Town
This town is surrounded by old walls built by the Spanish to defend themselves; this place is no less than a heaven for photographers and heritage lovers. The crowd begins in the early evening at the sunset point of the town because of the mesmerizing view of watching the sun setting in the Caribbean Sea.
Center of the town: This is probably the best place to hang around in the city to explore the vibrant color buildings, cafés, restaurants, street food, street shows, horse cart ride, and much more.
This place is right next to the old town, and there is no better place than Getsemani for a party after the dark; you can choose among various restaurants and cafes and enjoy a delicious meal gazing at the colorful streets.
Tip- Street vendors may try to sell their product and try their best to convince you; you may opt to politely say "No Gracias" (No, thank you) with a smiling face.
Castle - Castillo de San Felipe de Barajas
Initially built in 1536 to dominate approaches to the city, this Castle is a major tourist attraction because of its heritage value and spectacular view.
Kindly be advised that Castle opens every day from 7 am till 6 pm and the approximate cost for an entry ticket is USD 25.
Island Tours
You can book an island day trip at your hotel's reception desk or the nearest travel counter; I chose Margarita Beach, Tierra Bomba island, which included pick-up, drop-off, lunch, and sunbath table at a resort for USD 30. At the same time, a jet ski ride for 10 minutes was available at an additional cost of USD 12, followed by a body massage starting from USD 10.
